To ensure fairness, from Monday 3rd February, Bedworth Health Centre surgery will be implementing a change to how our ‘made-available-on-the-day’ appointments are made available, and when our Reception desks will open.

All appointments of this type will be made available from 8.30am on the day of the appointment regardless of how a patient wishes to book this type of appointment; the Reception desks will also open at this time.

Patients who had previously booked appointments using our GP Online Services provision will know that, due to the constraints of our clinical system, this type of appointment has been available online from 12.01am on the day of the appointment.

Similarly, patients who have previously presented in the surgery from 8.00am, will know that our Reception desks have historically opened at that time allowing patients to make this type of appointment from that time.

Both of these systems are unfair to patients who cannot make appointments online or who are not able to get to the surgery for 8.00am and have to rely on the surgery telephone system.

From Monday 3rd February, patients will be able to make this type of appointment in the following ways from 8.30am on the day of the appointment:

We would like to remind all patients that our appointments that we make available for patients to book in advance (i.e. not just on the day of the appointment) will still be available exactly as is currently the case: (i.e. using all of the above methods prior to the day of the appointment (and on the day of the appointment if they are still available) – please note, our GP Online Services provision and the Automated Telephone Booking System are both available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year).

Whilst we understand that patients who have previously made this type of appointment using our GP Online Services provision from 12.01am or at Reception at 8.00am will be frustrated, we have to ensure fairness amongst all patients – sadly whatever system we use to make this type of appointment available will never be able to satisfy every single one of our patients.

We hope that patients understand our reasoning for implementing this change. The Practice Management team are happy to discuss any concerns and welcome any comments that patients may have.
