You are now able to make an appointment to see a Doctor, Nurse or Healthcare Assistant (HCA) outside of our normal opening times (i.e. in the evening and at the weekend) through the ‘extended access’ service.
Bedworth Health Centre surgery does not deliver the extended access service as it is not part of the contract that we work to, however there are a number of locations throughout Coventry, Rugby and North WARKS. that do. This Map of Extended Access Locations shows you all of the locations that deliver the extended access service.
Extended access service appointments can only be booked by phoning Bedworth Health Centre.
Whilst GPs at the extended access service can see patients for the same things that GPs at Bedworth Health Centre can, the Nursing staff can only see patients for select procedures:
- Ear syringing (also known as ear irrigation)
- Dressings
- Childhood immunisations / vaccionations
- Cervical smears
- Blood pressure checks
- Asthma checks
- Contraceptive procedures (this includes the ‘Depo’ injection*)
- Vitamin B12 injections*
*It should be noted that patients will need to contact Bedworth Health Centre to obtain a prescription for the injection, and then have that prescription made up at a pharmacy, and then attend their appointment with the extended access service, with the injection).
When you speak to a Receptionist at Bedworth Health Centre to make your extended access appointment, they will need to know the reason for your appointment so they can determine if it can be carried out in an extended access appointment.
